Queensland’s independent litter prevention thought and practice leader

Recognised as Queensland’s independent litter prevention thought and practice leader, Keep Australia Beautiful Association Qld (KABAQ) is a grassroots environmental organisation with a rich history in community reward and recognition.

Based in the long-standing history of Keep Australia Beautiful – established by Dame Phyllis Frost in 1968 – we continue the legacy of more than 50 years’ experience in engaging Australians to care for their local environments.

Through community engagement, partnerships, education and empowerment we work towards a litter free and sustainable Queensland, inspiring action to help Queenslanders face their most pressing environmental challenges.

Celebrating the achievements of
Queensland’s regional communities

Having evolved from the iconic Keep Australia Beautiful Tidy Towns Awards, the Sustainable Communities Awards set out to recognise and celebrate positive actions taken by communities to protect and enhance their local environments and community spirit.

The Sustainable Communities Awards Program rewards and promotes projects that prevent or reduce litter, encourage environmental innovation, showcase circular economy initiatives, promote heritage and culture, and raise awareness in environmental sustainability through communication and engagement.

All regional towns, councils, community groups, businesses, schools and individuals are invited to take part in this program by submitting an entry in one or more of the five categories. There is no fee to enter the awards.

Entries for 2021 close on Friday 15 October 2021.
